Bring your child’s business dreams to life at the Children’s Entrepreneur Market during the Highland Games at the Shelby County Fairgrounds! Kids run their own business, sell their products, and keep their profits while families enjoy traditional Scottish games, music, and a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.
Market-Specific Instructions:
- No canopies needed, as this is an indoor event.
- Tables should not be longer than 6ft.
- Booth size cannot exceed 8ft x 8ft
See our complete Rules & Guidelines before registering.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Children must be 5 to 17 years old and able to run their booth completely on their own when interacting with customers.
That means your child must be able to:
- Handle food (if allowed at that market),
- Take and fulfill orders,
- Answer customer questions,
- Take payment and make change.
Parents may help their child when needed, but cannot interact with the customers directly. If your child cannot do these things with minimal help, either simplify your product, or wait for a future date when they are able to do so.
Booths must stay fully set up for the entire market. Early breakdown is not allowed and may disqualify you from future events.
We welcome children with disabilities or special needs—and any person whose cognitive ability is under 18 years of age—to participate with any necessary parental assistance! Please notify us at check-in that you'll be helping.
PRODUCT RULES
Kids can sell almost anything — handmade items, store-bought goods, games, or services.
Food: NOT allowed at all markets. Check the specific market page for restrictions.
Absolutely NO:
- Raw food,
- Fundraisers,
- MLMs (multi-level marketing),
- Live animals.
Children cannot sell products on behalf of their parents.
Every child must have an active role in making or sourcing their product.
Every booth must have a child actively selling.
We don't regulate what is sold — just that it follows these rules.

Your job: Support from behind the scenes so your child can shine!
Parents MUST NOT:

- Take orders
- Handle food
- Take payment (teach kids how to use apps prior to market)
If your child steps away, no sales can happen. Put a "Be Back Soon" sign on the table.
Parents must stay on the venue premises the entire time.
Make sure every adult in your group knows and follows these rules.
No smoking, vaping, or alcohol at the market.
Sit in the back of the booth, read a book, and act like you're not listening! Stepping back is what makes this an awesome learning experience for your child.
